Exposition “Sahara, mondes connectés” – Centre de la Vieille Charité – MAAOA – Marseille

Affiche exposition à la vieille charité à MarseilleThe exhibition “Sahara : worlds connected” was born from a dialogue between the artist Titouan Lamazou and the historian at IRD Charles Grémont around the central issue of mobility in the Sahara desert.

Titouan Lamazou has been travelling in the regions of Africa for many years. He approaches people and landscapes at the rhythm of his pictorial achievements. His travels have often taken him to the Sahara Desert, the largest contiguous area of arid land in the world. Titouan’s works presented offer us a personal experience of this mobility, materializing the view of the traveling artist.

The exhibition combines magnificent ethnographic objects from the prestigious collections of the musée du quai Branly-Jacques Chirac and the Musée d’ethnographie de Neuchâtel. There are also everyday objects, audiovisual creations and many other works by contemporary artists such as Hicham Berrada, Romuald Hazoumé and Leila Alaoui.

From May 10 to September 1, 2019. Centre de la Vieille Charité – Museum of African, Oceanian, Amerindian and Amerindian Arts – Marseille.
